Background
Steve Englehart and Steve Gan created Star-Lord, who first appeared in Marvel Preview #4 in January 1976 and was later brought into the main Earth-616 universe in Thanos Vol. 1 #8 (March 2004). He is the son of the human Meredith Quill and the Spartoi J'son, and he takes up the Star-Lord title as an interplanetary policeman. He played big parts in "Annihilation" (2006), "Annihilation: Conquest" (2007), "War of Kings" (2008) and The Thanos Imperative (2009), and became the Guardians' leader in their 2008 relaunch. Chris Pratt plays him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
