Background

Gerard Way and Jake Wyatt created Peni Parker, who first appeared in Edge of Spider-Verse in 2014. She is a Japanese American high school student from another universe who shares a psychic link with a radioactive spider named SP//dr, and the two pilot a mech suit of the same name that she inherited from her late father. The character drew heavily on the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. She also appears in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and its sequels, voiced by Kimiko Glenn.
