Background
Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby created Groot, who first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 in November 1960. The original Groot was an invader who wanted to capture humans for experiments. In 2006 the character came back as a heroic, noble being, took part in the Annihilation: Conquest storyline and then joined the Guardians of the Galaxy in their spin-off series. Vin Diesel voices Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning in 2014.
