Lore & Background

Liverpool clinched their nineteenth league title on 25 June, following Manchester City's defeat to Chelsea. It was the club's first league title since 1989–90 and the first during the Premier League era. The team finished the season with 99 points, the club's record and the second highest in English top-flight history after Manchester City's 100 two years prior.

In Their Own Story

The floodlights hummed over Anfield as the final whistle confirmed another league crown. From the Kop came a roar that vibrated through the concrete terraces and into the city streets, a sound born of sheer relief and pride. Amidst the wave of red scarves, generations stood shoulder to shoulder; an elder gripped a faded programme from 1976, watching the youth celebrate with the same fervor he once possessed. In that suspended moment, the eighteen stars above the crest transcended history—they were not merely trophies on a shelf, but a living vow that the club would endure.

Reader's Guide

The season was suspended from 13 March to 17 June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Liverpool set a number of English top-flight records, including the most consecutive home wins (24; of which 7 were carried over from the previous season) and the biggest point lead at any time (25). They also matched Premier League records for the most wins (32), the most home wins (18), and the most consecutive wins (18).
