Lore & Background

The league has three divisions: the Premier Division, the Championship Division, and the Conference Division. The Premier Division is a feeder league to the National League System and feeds the North West Counties League Division One North and South. The league has four knockout cup competitions: the Peter Coyne / George Mahon Cup (open to all clubs across the three divisions), the I Zingari Cup (open to clubs in the Premier Division), the Roy Wade Cup (open to clubs in the Championship Division), and the Lord Wavertree Cup (open to clubs in the Conference Division).

In Their Own Story

The competition's identity is woven into four distinct cup contests that mirror its divisional structure. The I Zingari Cup is reserved strictly for Premier Division clubs, preserving the history of the I Zingari League, whose name it bears as its former league cup. Similarly, the Championship Division has its own dedicated trophy, the Roy Wade Cup, while the Conference Division competes for the Lord Wavertree Cup. These four cups—the Peter Coyne / George Mahon, the I Zingari, the Roy Wade, and the Lord Wavertree—ensure that every tier of the league has a specific path to glory, from the feeder leagues up to the top flight.
