P's Awakening
P wakes on an abandoned train and reaches Hotel Krat.
P's Awakening refers to sentient Puppets whose "Ego" awakened, allowing them to bypass the Covenants' restrictions.[1] These awakened Puppets can be nearly-identical revived versions of dead Humans who turned into the Ergo powering them.[1] The protagonist P is the revived Puppet of Carlo, Geppetto's son.[1]
How it changed
Geppetto added a secret directive into the Covenant, giving him nearly-unlimited control of most Puppets.[1] The King of Puppets was the revived Puppet of Romeo, Carlo's best friend.[1] Until his death, the King had been trying to avoid further death and warn P of Geppetto's deception.[1] A post-credits scene reveals Giangio is actually a deceiver named Philippus Paracelsus.[2]
The woman on the phone with Paracelsus points out that eternal life can take many forms.[2] The man posing as treasure hunter Alidoro is an impostor who killed the original.[1] According to the post-credits scene, Paracelsus refers to P as "a new brother" and describes sentient Puppets as "a new type of humanity".[2] A figure is seen on a Krat rooftop, then taps their shoe heels together three times.[2]
The individual who phones P as the "King of Riddles" is Arlecchino, who is identified as one of the first Sentient Puppets.[1]
