The Higher-Ups are the leaders of the Jujutsu Society who decide the fate of sorcerers from above. They order the execution of Yuji Itadori once he becomes Ryomen Sukuna's vessel, a sentence Satoru Gojo manages to delay.
Lore & Background
Yoshinobu Gakuganji, principal of Kyoto Jujutsu High, is one of the elders pushing for the execution, and Gojo knows that the higher-ups arranged Yuji's death during the cursed womb mission. Masamichi Yaga hides from them that he could produce an army of cursed corpses. Gojo's standing as the strongest sorcerer lets him shield Yuji and Yuta Okkotsu from the more conservative members of the jujutsu community.
Reader's Guide
After the Shibuya Incident they declare Gojo an accomplice, blame Yaga for the devastation and sentence him to death, a sentence Gakuganji carries out, and reinstate Yuji's execution with Yuta Okkotsu as executioner.
