Lore & Background
Hiccup first meets her as a mysterious dragon rider. Like her son, she could never bring herself to kill dragons; she rescues them from Drago and brings them to an island nest of ice made by a Bewilderbeast, an ice-breathing alpha that controls smaller dragons with hypnotic sound waves. Stoick tracks Hiccup to the nest and the couple are reunited, but Stoick dies in the battle against Drago. Valka then reminds Hiccup that his father believed he could unite humans and dragons, and she decides to stay with her son on Berk. In The Hidden World she spots Grimmel's approaching army on a scouting patrol and warns Hiccup.
Reader's Guide
Her singing voice in the second film's song "For the Dancing and the Dreaming" is provided by Mary Jane Wells.
