Lorgar is the Primarch of the 17th Space Marine Legion, the Word Bearers. The novel The First Heretic details his and his Legion's fall to Chaos.

Lore & Background

After the Emperor publicly and humiliatingly censures Lorgar and the entire assembled Legion, the despairing Primarch is swayed by two of his most trusted lieutenants, who are secretly allied with Chaos, and he and the Legion covertly embrace the Primordial Truth many years before Horus's corruption. During the Heresy he plans the "Shadow Crusade" in which the Word Bearers and World Eaters lay waste to worlds across Ultramar, and he and Perturabo are later left to marshal Fulgrim and Angron, both elevated to daemonhood.
