The Astronomican

The Emperor's psychic beacon for navigating the warp.

The Astronomican is the psychic beacon by which starships navigate the warp. In the Warhammer 40,000 setting it is generated by the mind of the Emperor, who was mortally wounded in battle and lives on in a vegetative state on life support.

Lore & Background

The Emperor came to that state at the end of the Horus Heresy, when he was installed in the mechanism of the Golden Throne. The name also appears on one of the ten books released for the game's original edition, Chapter Approved - Book of the Astronomican.
