Sanguinius

Primarch of the Blood Angels, whom Chaos tries and fails to turn.

Sanguinius is the Primarch of the 9th Space Marine Legion, the Blood Angels. In Fear to Tread the forces of Chaos try to turn him and his Legion to their cause by exploiting a genetic flaw in their DNA; the plan almost succeeds, but the Blood Angels narrowly win.

Lore & Background

Now aware of the betrayal, Sanguinius and his Legion race to defend Terra and the Emperor through unprecedented navigational difficulties. After the trial at Signus Prime he joins Guilliman's Imperium Secundus, where he is named its Emperor, before he, Guilliman and the Lion leave for Terra. During the Siege of Terra, with the Khan near death and Dorn beleaguered, the defence falls to Sanguinius, the Angel of the Ninth Legion, who is fated to die.
