Emory Peak

via Wikipedia: Emory Peak · see source

Emory Peak, the highest point in both the Chisos Mountains and Brewster County, sits inside Big Bend National Park. It was named after William H. Emory, who led the 1852 U.S. Boundary Survey. From the Chisos Basin, the peak looks like a low ridge, while the closer summit of Casa Grande appears much taller. From the west, Emory Peak stands out as a slightly higher point in the range. The summit offers views across most of the park’s northern area and a large part of the southern Chisos range.
