Vaggie

Background

Vaggie was an Exorcist who took part in the Exterminations until she spared a defenceless demon child. For that she was betrayed by Lute, stripped of her position and mutilated, and left in Hell, where Charlie found and saved her and, at first unaware of her angelic nature, fell in love with her. The truth comes out in "Welcome to Heaven", when Adam reveals to Charlie that her girlfriend was one of his exterminators; the two reconcile in "Hello Rosie!", where Vaggie also tells the residents she is a fallen angel. In the first-season finale Lute kills Dazzle, one of Lucifer's goat pets, while he is protecting Vaggie, and in season two Lute, bent on revenge for Adam's death, targets Vaggie as the person closest to Charlie before Abel stops her. The character originated in Medrano's webcomic ZooPhobia as "Vaggie Motha".

Vaggie's reception has been positive, with particular attention to her relationship with Charlie and to Beatriz's singing. Screen Rant called her the backbone and best character of the show, Comic Book Resources called the couple "the perfect power couple", and Autostraddle described their relationship as the "devilish heart" of the series. Some reviewers found Beatriz's singing voice jarring next to her speaking voice while noting she matched the vocal work of her pilot predecessor Monica Franco.
