The Overlords
Sinners who clawed their way to power and now carve Hell's Pride Ring between them.
The Overlords of Hell in Hazbin Hotel are sinners - once humans on Earth - who have gained significant power in Hell and rule over parts of it. Named overlords include Alastor the Radio Demon, the Vees (Vox, Valentino and Velvette), the weapons dealer Carmilla Carmine, the ancient Zestial, Rosie of Cannibal Town, and Hatchet, Maestro, Prick and Zeezi. Husk, the hotel's bartender, was an overlord until his gambling cost him his status.

Background
Overlords gain and grow their power by owning souls, typically through contracts and binding deals: Valentino holds Angel Dust's soul, Alastor holds Husk's, and Rosie for a time held Alastor's. Rivalries and alliances among them drive much of the plot, from Alastor's feud with Vox to the Vees' alliance. In "Scrambled Eggs" Alastor attends an overlord meeting where Velvette insinuates that Carmilla killed an angel during the last Extermination. In season two Vox rallies sinners and declares war on Heaven; Zestial and other overlords refuse him, and in the finale they help destroy his cannon.
The concept is introduced in the 2019 pilot when Vaggie explains Alastor's origins to Angel Dust: he arrived in Hell and quickly overthrew overlords who had held power for centuries. On the fan wiki's reckoning overlords place fifth in Hell's hierarchy of power, just above ordinary sinners.
