Gameplay

Street Jam Basketball simulates three-on-three basketball. Players select three characters from a roster of 40. The B button passes and steals, the A button blocks and shoots, and the shoulder buttons switch teammates. Three modes are available: Exhibition, Story, and Versus Play. Story mode progresses through 15 tournaments on street courts, with eight courts unlocked for Exhibition. Versus Play supports two players via the Game Link Cable.

Reception

Street Jam Basketball received generally unfavorable reviews on Metacritic. Critics noted the limited moveset and lack of passing or shooting options. Craig Harris of IGN called it an unbelievable failure and one of the worst handheld games, citing stiff animations and limited variety. Frank Provo of GameSpot found little to see and do due to lack of depth, though courts looked great with nice details. Official Nintendo Magazine described the sprites as jerky and clunky, making player identification difficult. Nintendo Power found the game fast-paced with easy scoring but difficult defense.
