Gameplay

Ultimate Winter Games is a collection of four arcade-style winter sports games. In downhill skiing and bobsledding, the player must reach the end of a downhill course in the fastest time, using the control pad to maintain speed and avoid crashing. Championship mode allows the player to unlock tracks for Practice mode, while Tournament mode lets the player design a series of events. The curling event supports multiplayer play via the Game Link Cable.

Reception

Critics were split on Ultimate Winter Games. GameZone's Anise Hollingshead called the courses attractive and visually appealing, but found them basic, short, and lacking mode variety. Nintendo Power noted a fair amount of gameplay variety and praised the controls as very good. IGN's Craig Harris said the graphics and gameplay were capable, with a decent framerate and good sense of speed, while the controls and collisions were positive. However, he criticized the challenges as basic and lacking defining features, with poorly-designed progression of identical events at increasing difficulty.
