The Great Wheel
The standard cosmology of the Dungeons & Dragons planes.
The Great Wheel is the cosmology of the planes in Dungeons & Dragons, the structure of the multiverse in which the game takes place. It was first presented in The Dragon in July 1977.
Lore & Background
In the Great Wheel model sixteen Outer Planes form a ring, with the good-aligned Upper Planes at the top and the evil-aligned Lower Planes at the bottom. The 4th edition replaced it with the World Axis cosmology, and the 5th edition brought back a new version of the Great Wheel that keeps some World Axis ideas, including the Feywild and the Shadowfell.
