Carthag

The Harkonnen-built city on Arrakis.

Carthag is the Harkonnen-built "megalopolis" on Arrakis from which House Harkonnen ruled the planet before the Atreides arrived. Jessica describes it as "a cheap and brassy place some two hundred kilometers northeast across the Broken Land" from Arrakeen, which had been only the titular capital until the Atreides moved there.
