Ecaz
The planet behind sapho, elacca wood, fogwood and verite.
Ecaz is a planet of Frank Herbert's Dune universe known chiefly as the origin of several substances listed in the Terminology of the Imperium. Sapho, a high-energy liquid extracted from the barrier roots of Ecaz, is used by Mentats who claim it amplifies their mental powers and leaves deep ruby stains on the lips. The blood-grained elacca wood of Ecaz yields the elacca drug, a narcotic that removes most of the will to self-preservation and is used to prepare slave gladiators, and its burned residue gives semuta.
Lore & Background
Ecaz is also the home of fogwood, a plant that can be shaped by thought alone; of the hufuf vine, whose strands are woven into krimskell fibre, a claw fibre whose knots tighten when pulled; and of verite, a will-destroying narcotic that renders a person incapable of falsehood.
