Critical Role Downfall

Gods in mortal form walk into Aeor, the city they will bring down.

Downfall is a three-part special within Critical Role's third campaign, run by Brennan Lee Mulligan as Dungeon Master. It is set over a century into the Calamity and focuses on the divine figures who brought down the magocracy Aeor. Although officially part of the third campaign, it was advertised as a standalone special that needs no prior knowledge of Critical Role or Exandria Unlimited.

The players are Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Noshir Dalal, Nick Marini and Abubakar Salim. Most of them play mortal incarnations of the Prime Deities who infiltrate Aeor: Bailey is Emhira, incarnation of the Raven Queen; Johnson is Trist, incarnation of the Everlight; Jaffe is Asha, incarnation of the Wildmother; Marini is Ayden, incarnation of the Dawnfather; and Salim is S.I.L.A.H.A., incarnation of the Arch Heart. Dalal plays the Emissary, the Lawbearer's Herald.

Reader's Guide

Critical Role announced the special at the end of Campaign 3 Episode 98. According to Mulligan, Exandria Unlimited: Calamity shows what triggers the Calamity and is really about the end of the Age of Arcanum, whereas Downfall is set more than a century into the Calamity and shows that era itself.
