Bells Hells

A group forged in Jrusar who stopped a god-breaking ritual.

Bells Hells is the adventuring party formed during Critical Role's third campaign, which premiered on October 21, 2021, and concluded on February 6, 2025. The group met in the city of Jrusar, consisting of seven players: Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Liam O'Brien, Taliesin Jaffe, and Sam Riegel, guided by Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer. Their formation began when Sir Bertrand Bell introduced them to Lord Ariks Eshteross before his death at the hands of the dwarf Dugger. The party avenged him and named themselves Bells Hells in his honor. Set two months prior to the Apogee Solstice, their journey focuses on the mystery of Exandria's second moon, Ruidus, and the threat posed by the Ruby Vanguard.

Quick Facts

Campaign: Critical Role Campaign Three
Notable enemy: The Ruby Vanguard, Ludinus Da'leth

Lore & Background

The campaign centers on the Bells Hells investigating the superstitions surrounding Ruidusborn, individuals born during flares of the red moon. They discovered that the gods crafted Ruidus to imprison an ancient evil named Predathos. The Ruby Vanguard, founded and led by Martinet Ludinus Da'leth, sought to free this entity using magical devices called Malleus Keys. The party interfered with the ritual at the Hellcatch Valley Malleus Key, preventing Predathos's release. Although they succeeded in stopping the full release, Ruidus became locked in place over the key, enabling travel between the moon and Exandria. Following this event, the Exandrian Accord formed a military alliance against Ruidian forces. Bells Hells joined Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein as coordinated strike teams to combat these threats.
