Yue

Northern Water Tribe princess who became the Moon Spirit.

Princess Yue is the daughter of Chief Arnook of the Northern Water Tribe in Avatar: The Last Airbender. She almost died as a newborn, and her father begged the Moon Spirit to save her. In Book One she is a sixteen-year-old engaged to the warrior Hahn, but she falls for Sokka. After Admiral Zhao kills the Moon Spirit, Yue gives up her mortal life and becomes the new Moon Spirit, repaying the spirit that once gave her life. She returns now and then in Books Two and Three, including a short portrayal in the Ember Island Players episode. Her name means "moon" in Mandarin. Johanna Braddy voices her in the animated series; Seychelle Gabriel plays her in the live-action film and Amber Midthunder in the live-action series.
