Gameplay
The game is a player versus player online multiplayer action shooter on the planet Arkhona. Players choose from four races: Orks, Space Marines, Eldar, and Chaos Space Marines, each with unique classes. Elite-classes require in-game resources to unlock. Tyranids appear as NPCs in procedurally-created dungeons called Under worlds and survival Hives modes for Player Versus Environment gameplay. During alpha, developers planned to add other races like Tau and Dark Eldar over the game's lifetime.
Development
Behaviour Interactive launched the founder program on June 25, 2014, offering pre-order packs with bonuses. Closed alpha began September 14, 2015 for founders, testing shooter mechanics before adding persistence and progression features. The game was available on Microsoft Windows during alpha and later removed from Steam. A free version offers 18 of 22 basic classes with reduced experience-point gain; the full paid version unlocks all classes and full experience rates. On June 10, 2021, developers announced permanent server shutdown for September 10, 2021. Private projects attempt revival, but as of August 2023 the game remains mostly unplayable with official servers down.
