Gameplay

Players can log into a single game account and resume play across different devices without separate profiles. Two Battle Modes are available: Regicide and Classic, both playable in single-player and multiplayer. The Regicide mode is described as a new take on traditional chess, set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where killing the King is not always the objective. It uses an 8×8 board with pieces such as the King and Rook, but each unit has unique abilities and equipment. Players receive 3 initiative points per phase to spend on abilities, equipment, or player abilities, with some abilities boosting the initiative point total. The Classic mode follows traditional chess rules, with players selecting a faction and battling online or offline. Two factions are included: the Blood Angels chapter of the Space Marines and the Orks. Each faction's units correspond to specific chess pieces, such as a Space Marine Terminator acting as a Rook, though abilities and equipment in Regicide mode may alter their behavior. A campaign mode featuring the Blood Angels is included. Players who created an account before launch received White Scars Space Marine army content.

Development and release

In May 2015, the developer released a video showing development. In early February 2015, Hammerfall Publishing began selling limited edition game bundles, ranging from the budget 'Neophyte'/'Slugga' pack to the large 'Terminator'/'Warboss' bundle, which included items such as a hooded jumper, posters, a certificate, and a content season pass. On October 14, 2022, the game was discontinued, its servers shut down, and it was de-listed from Steam, Apple, and Google Play stores, though the offline mode remains functional for previous installations.
