Plot

The story unfolds over 24 hours, beginning with Kais' mission to rescue the Ethereal Ko'vash from Governor Severus. After infiltrating Severus' prison-fortress and escaping with Ko'vash, the Tau Orca dropship is attacked by an Imperial Battleship while docking with the Tau Emissary class cruiser. Boarding pods launch, and Kais fights Storm Troopers attempting to disable the cruiser's engines and assassinate the Captain. Failing to save the Captain, Kais launches via boarding pod to the Imperial ship, disables its guns, and nearly captures Admiral Constantine, but is knocked unconscious by Captain Ardias. Ardias brokers a truce between the Imperium and Tau, revealing that Governor Severus has been corrupted by Chaos and has teleported Word Bearers Chaos Marines aboard. Kais destroys the captured guns, and Ardias sets the ship to self-destruct; Kais escapes in a Dreadnought drop-pod. Landing in a ruined Imperial city, Kais learns from Ardias that Severus plans to use an Imperial Titan. Kais destroys the Titan, enters Severus' fortress, and kills Severus and his daemonic master. Ardias orders the planet destroyed to prevent Chaos from spreading. Enemies include Chaos Dreadnoughts, Word Bearers Chaos Space Marines, Armageddon Steel Legion Imperial Guard, Daemon princes, Obliterators, and an Imperial Valkyrie.
