Lore & Background
The final at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid was an all-English affair, only the second after Manchester United against Chelsea in 2008. Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2–0 for their sixth European Cup, a total only Real Madrid and Milan had reached before them. The win also sent Liverpool to the 2019 UEFA Super Cup and the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, and they won both. With Chelsea and Arsenal meeting in that year's Europa League final, it was the first season in which one country supplied every finalist of the major European club finals.
