Liverpool are an English club from Liverpool, Merseyside, founded in 1892, who play in the Premier League.

Background

Liverpool have won the European Cup six times, more than any other English club. Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish's era brought four of them in the 1970s and 1980s, and Rafael Benitez and Jurgen Klopp added 2005 and 2019. The 1985 final in Brussels was overshadowed by the Heysel Stadium disaster, in which 39 fans, mainly supporters of the Italian opponents, lost their lives.
