via Wikipedia: Bobby Charlton · see source
Sir Bobby Charlton (1937–2023) was an English attacking midfielder, winger and centre-forward who spent nearly all of his club career at Manchester United. He won the 1966 World Cup with England and the Ballon d'Or that same year, and is one of eleven players to have won the World Cup, the European Cup and the Ballon d'Or.
Background
Charlton was part of the United side that became the first English club to play in the European Cup, and he survived the Munich air disaster of February 1958, on the way home from the quarter-final against Red Star Belgrade. Ten years later he captained United to the 1968 European Cup, scoring twice in the final as they became the first English winners. His 758 games for the club stood as United's record until Ryan Giggs passed it in the 2008 Champions League final.
