Club
A slow, bone-cracking two-hander built for those who prefer one devastating blow over ten quick cuts.
The Club is a two-handed melee weapon category in the Torchlight series of hack-and-slash action RPGs, first appearing in Runic Games' 2009 debut title. It occupies the two-handed weapon slot and deals pure physical damage, trading the faster swing of one-handed swords and daggers for a heavier, slower strike that hits with greater force per swing. The Club is most closely associated with the Barbarian class, whose kit and passive bonuses favour two-handed weapons, but any class can equip one. Across Torchlight and Torchlight II, Clubs appear in every standard rarity tier from Common up through Legendary, each instance offering different stat rolls and, at higher rarities, additional affixes or special effects.

Lore & Background
In the world of Torchlight, Clubs are the blunt instruments of the frontier's rougher folk—miners, lumberjacks, and the war-hardened Barbarians who hold the passes between the civilized lands and the wilds beyond. Where a sword is a duellist's tool and a staff a scholar's, the Club is the honest answer to a problem: something heavy, something that does not need to find a gap in the armour, something that simply ends the argument. Craftsmen in the various settlements forge Clubs from a single haft of seasoned oak or iron-banded ash, capped with a head of packed stone, riveted iron, or, in the rarer examples, a dense core of some unnamed alloy.
The Legendary-grade Clubs that occasionally surface in deep caves or the hoards of fallen bosses bear engravings and residual enchantments that pulse faintly, hinting at the old artificers who first shaped them. Barbarian tradition holds that a Club should be chosen the way a partner is chosen: you do not pick the prettiest, you pick the one that does not let you down when the ground shakes and the horde breaks the gate. This philosophy is reflected in the game's design, where the Barbarian's class passives amplify two-handed weapon damage and the Club's slower tempo rewards the player who can read the rhythm of a fight and land that one heavy, screen-shaking blow at the right moment.
Reader's Guide
Slot: Two-handed melee. Rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Legendary instances all exist. The Club deals physical damage with a slower attack speed than one-handed weapons, but each individual hit carries noticeably more weight, making it a high-damage-per-second option when you can land your swings. Build context: The Club shines in the hands of a Barbarian, whose class passives and skill tree are tuned around two-handed weapon damage.
A straight physical-damage Barbarian build, stacking Strength and two-hand damage bonuses, turns the Club into a sustained crusher. Casters and Bows will generally outperform it, but a hybrid Barbarian/Caster who wants a reliable physical swing between spells can still make use of a high-rarity Club. Acquisition: Clubs drop from enemies throughout the campaign, from chest loot, and from vendor stock in settlements. Higher-rarity Clubs are more likely to appear in later-act areas, from elite or boss enemies, and from crafting or upgrading lower-rarity pieces.
No single guaranteed drop location is universal; treat them as a standard loot-pool weapon. Fan verdict: A solid, no-frills two-hander that feels great in a Barbarian's hands, but not a must-grab unless the affixes line up with your build.
