City in Altara, home of the Bowl of the Winds and later a Seanchan stronghold.
Ebou Dar is a city in Altara. In A Crown of Swords Elayne Trakand, Nynaeve al'Meara, Aviendha and Mat Cauthon search it for the Bowl of the Winds, a ter'angreal that can break the unnatural heat caused by the Dark One, with the help of the Kin and the Atha'an Miere; they also confront a gholam there, and Mat is left behind when the Seanchan invade.

Under Seanchan occupation in Winter's Heart, Mat escapes the city and kidnaps Tuon, heir to the Crystal Throne. Tuon returns to Ebou Dar in Knife of Dreams to destroy the High Lady Suroth and take command of the Seanchan, and in A Memory of Light Mat comes back to find the city crawling with assassins sent by one of her generals.
