Background
Diverting the power to Edgewater wins favour with Spacer's Choice and loses it with the Deserters; diverting it to the Botanical Lab does the opposite. The Stranger can also talk the two sides into a deal, and depending on the route Reed Tobson or the Deserters' leader Adelaide McDevitt ends up in charge of Edgewater. Unlike the rest of the main story, this quest does not have to be finished to complete the game.
