The Edema Ruh are a people of travelling performers in The Kingkiller Chronicle. Kvothe spends his childhood in a highly regarded troupe of the Ruh, where his parents train him in acting, singing and the lute.

Lore & Background

The Chandrian destroy his troupe when he is a boy. In The Wise Man's Fear Kvothe kills a band of robbers who had murdered a real troupe and were posing as Edema Ruh. When he admits that he is himself Ruh, the Maer's wife, who hates the Ruh for taking her sister, has him sent away. Nightwish named a song after them.
