The seat of learning where Kvothe seeks the truth about the Chandrian.
The university is the centre of learning in The Kingkiller Chronicle, where some kinds of magic are taught as academic subjects. Kvothe goes there because its Archives might hold knowledge about the Chandrian.

He gets in despite lacking money, studies well, and makes loyal friends, while clashing with the rich student Ambrose Jakis and the arrogant Master Hemme. A trick by Ambrose gets him banned from the Archives, but he advances in medicine and runic metalworking and becomes a student of Master Namer Elodin. In The Wise Man's Fear his tuition climbs because of the trouble he has attracted, he takes a term away, and on his return he strikes a deal with the bursar to share in his own raised tuition. Beneath the university lies the Underthing, the setting of The Slow Regard of Silent Things.
