Black Marsh

The southeastern province of Tamriel and homeland of the Argonians.

Black Marsh is one of the nine provinces of Tamriel, the continent on which every Elder Scrolls game is set, and it is the home of the Argonians. In the backstory of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the Argonians of Black Marsh lost faith in the Empire as an institution, seceded and set up their own nationalist faction, which took control of Tamriel's south-eastern territories.

Lore & Background

Black Marsh itself has been visited mainly through The Elder Scrolls Online. The Murkmire story content, released in late October 2018, is set in a previously unexplored region of Black Marsh and tells of a dead clan of Argonians, and one of the game's expansions is set in an area spanning both Cyrodiil and Black Marsh.
