The Boss Room
The fixed room at the end of every floor where the floor's boss waits.
The boss room is one of the fixed rooms found on every floor of The Binding of Isaac. Each floor of the dungeon includes a boss the player must defeat before moving on to the next level, and the boss room is where that fight happens.

Lore & Background
When building the original game, Edmund McMillen generated each floor's random rooms by choosing ten to twenty from a library of 200 layouts, adding monsters and items, and then placing the fixed rooms found on every floor, such as a boss room and a treasure room. Taking his cue from the dungeons of The Legend of Zelda, he made sure each level gave the player at least one item plus a bonus item for defeating the boss.
Reader's Guide
The sixth floor's boss is Isaac's mother; the eighth floor's is her heart; Sheol, an optional ninth floor, holds Satan. In Rebirth every procedurally generated floor includes at least one boss battle, and a run is completed by beating one of a number of different final bosses. The Wrath of the Lamb expansion added more than 10 bosses and alternate floors with a different set of bosses, and Afterbirth+ added a bestiary that tracks how many of each creature and boss the player has defeated.
