After she comes to believe that a voice from above is God speaking to her, she decides her son must be saved from sin, and finally that she must sacrifice him to prove her faith. Lore & Background
The voice tells her Isaac is corrupted with sin and needs to be saved, and asks her to rid him of all evil; she obeys by taking away his toys, his drawings and even his clothes. When it speaks again, saying he must be cut off from everything evil in the world, she shuts him in his room. The last time it speaks, it asks for his life. She agrees, takes a butcher's knife from the kitchen and goes to his room, but Isaac escapes through a trapdoor under his rug just as she breaks in. In the game, after the player defeats her, Isaac crawls into her womb, and the later floors build up to a fight with her heart on the eighth floor.
