The Shop
Where Isaac's coins buy items: the shop rooms of the dungeon.
The shop is one of the special rooms in The Binding of Isaac. Along the way through the dungeon the player collects money to buy power-ups from shopkeepers, and in Rebirth coins found on the floors are used to buy items in the shops that appear among each floor's special rooms.

Lore & Background
Danny Baranowsky, the game's composer, had time left after the main songs to write short extra tracks for special rooms like shops and secret areas. The card game Four Souls has a shop too: on a turn a player may buy one item from it for 10¢.
Reader's Guide
In Rebirth each floor contains special rooms such as treasure rooms, shops, mini-boss fights, dice rooms, arcades, vaults, planetariums and curse rooms. Shops sell items for coins; keys open doors and treasure chests, and bombs clear obstacles. Passive items bought there stack with the others the character carries.
