The arena is the closing stage of an online match in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance+, the expansion that brought online multiplayer to Rebirth. At the end of a match, players battle one another in an arena using the items they found during the run, or preset builds.

Lore & Background
Repentance+ was announced in 2023 and released as an open beta on November 18, 2024, for the game's tenth anniversary. Online multiplayer had long been requested by fans; the earlier expansions had only added local co-op, growing from one extra player in Rebirth to four fully playable characters in Repentance. The expansion also brought item and quality-of-life tweaks, including the much-requested internal item descriptions added to the beta on September 10, 2025.
Reader's Guide
A standalone release of Repentance+ for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is scheduled for November 19, 2026. Nicalis published the expansion in 2024.
