Klingon Empire

The Klingon Empire is the official state of the Klingon people in Star Trek. It was founded in the 9th century by Kahless the Unforgettable, who first united the Klingon homeworld of Qo'noS, and grew by conquering numerous systems into a major power of the galaxy in the 22nd, 23rd and 24th centuries. Its head of state is the Emperor and its head of government the Chancellor of the High Council; in the mid-21st century the reign of the last Emperor ended and authority passed to the Chancellor. The Empire collapsed in the 31st century after the Burn left Qo'noS and much of its territory uninhabitable, and the surviving Klingons later took a new homeworld, Faan Alpha, at the end of the 32nd century.
