Lore & Background
McCoy was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2227, attended the University of Mississippi and is divorced; he later married Natira, priestess of Yonada. In 2266 he became chief medical officer of the USS Enterprise under Captain Kirk, who often calls him Bones; the two are close, almost brotherly friends.
The passionate, sometimes cantankerous McCoy often argues with Spock and acts as Kirk's conscience, a counterpoint to Spock's logic. He is suspicious of technology, especially the transporter, and as a physician prefers less intrusive treatment.
