Background

The court is a squid shape drawn on the ground. The attacker has to get past the defender and tap the squid's head with a foot; the defender has to push the attacker out of the court, and any violence is allowed. Gi-hun, as attacker, beats Sang-woo in a brutal fight but will not kill him and asks him to end the game with the vote clause. Sang-woo refuses, asks Gi-hun to care for his mother and stabs himself, and Gi-hun wins the 45.6 billion won. In the children's game the field is two circles joined to a triangle and a square, played in teams. The two finalists fight with the table knives left to them after their final dinner, the same kind of knife Sang-woo had used on the wounded Kang Sae-byeok.
