Cat Quest III (also called *Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean*) is an action role-playing game from 2024. It was made by The Gentlebros and released by Kepler Interactive on August 8, 2024, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, MacOS, and Windows. This is the third game in the Cat Quest series.
In the game, players control a cat searching for the "North Star," a treasure that can grant any wish. The cat fights rival pirate groups who also want the artifact. Combat includes melee attacks with swords and other weapons, plus ranged attacks using guns and magic wands. Players can learn and cast spells that inflict various effects on enemies. The world is a map of islands, explored on foot or by ship. Islands contain dungeons with enemies and useful gear. At sea, players fight pirate ships using cannons. Side quests offer extra rewards, and the game includes local cooperative multiplayer.
The story begins when the Pi-Rat King destroys a boat, leaving only a kitten alive. The kitten washes ashore and is found by a ghost pirate named Cappey. Fifteen years later, the cat—now called The Seeker—and Cappey hunt for the North Star, which has fallen into the Purribean and is said to grant great power. They learn the Pi-Rat King also seeks it, forcing other pirates to help him. To find the first clue, they need three keys to the Polaris Ruins. They get these by defeating two ghost wardens (former keepers of the North Star) and the leader of the Boar Tribe, who says the North Star originally belonged to his people. At the Polaris Ruins, the Pi-Rat King reveals he has been following them because only a Seeker can retrieve the clue. They move on and find a key to the Infinity Tower.
At the Infinity Tower, they discover the North Star is actually an imprisoned alien, used by the Wardens to grant wishes. The alien shows them where to go next and asks to be freed. Cappey still wants to free it, but The Seeker grows suspicious. Along the way, they defeat two other pirates seeking the North Star: Meowtallika (who wants it as an energy source) and Takomeowki (who wants to impress his father). The Pi-Rat King explains he was cursed by a dragon called The Undying to live forever with a plague, and he needs the North Star to stop it.
