Demeo was developed and published by the Swedish company Resolution Games on May 6, 2021. It was originally a virtual reality game released on the Oculus Quest and Windows, later ported to the PlayStation 5 via the PlayStation VR2 headset in 2023. After launch, Resolution Games announced a roadmap for additional content, including a new area called 'Roots of Evil', a social space titled 'Players Hangout', and a PC edition.

The game is set in a tabletop-themed world where players navigate the 'Elvian Necropolis' to reach the 'Nevermost Catacombs' and defeat the enemy there. Each floor of the necropolis is locked by a monster holding the key to the exit. Players choose from four heroes—The Guardian, The Assassin, The Sorcerer, and The Hunter—each with unique abilities. Gameplay is turn-based: each character receives two action points per turn to use for spells, special attacks, or items, all represented by cards. Cards include Banish (teleports enemies), Barricade (provides protection), and the Repeating Ballista (fires three bolts per turn until the target dies). Players can also visit an in-game shop called 'Cleepto's Bazzar' to buy cards for their deck.

Two modes are available: Skirmish Mode, where a single player controls up to three characters, and Multiplayer Mode, where up to four players each control one hero and take turns. A spin-off, Demeo Battles, was released on November 9, 2023, and a spiritual successor, Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked, followed on November 20, 2025.
