Lugunica Kingdom

The kingdom, modelled on Prague, where the Royal Selection decides who will rule after the royal family's death.

The Kingdom of Lugunica is the main setting of Re:Zero. Subaru Natsuki is summoned there and meets Emilia, a candidate to become the kingdom's next ruler. For the setting, the Royal Capital of Lugunica was modelled on the city of Prague.

Lore & Background

The whole royal family of Lugunica is deceased, and the Sage Council serves as the highest ruling body in their absence. The Royal Selection will choose the 42nd Queen of Lugunica; the candidates include Emilia, Crusch Karsten, Anastasia Hoshin, Priscilla and Felt. Crusch wants to end the country's centuries-long dependence on the Dragon's guidance, which she believes has left Lugunica stagnant.

Kararagi lies to the west of Lugunica and the Vollachia Empire to the south. Lugunica's knights include the Royal Guard, whose members include the Sword Saint Reinhard van Astrea, and 40 years before the story the kingdom fought the Demi-human Revolt.
