Gameplay
ATV Offroad Fury 4 introduces dirt bikes, trophy trucks, and dune buggies alongside existing quad bikes, allowing up to 50 Championship Modes. It features improved graphics, 60 additional tracks, and enhanced online gaming. More tricks are possible on an MX motorcycle, but none can be performed while controlling a Trophy Truck or Dune Buggy. Trophy Trucks and Dune Buggies are vulnerable to rollovers, after which the vehicle is automatically reset on its wheels, similar to being thrown off an ATV or motorcycle. Tutorials teach how to drive these vehicles. Rivals, similar to those in NASCAR Thunder 2004, appear with icons above opponents; hitting an opponent turns their icon red and makes them more aggressive. A Story Mode has players compete in events worldwide, requiring a certain number of completions to advance. Mini-games include Ice Hockey (from ATV Offroad Fury 2), Scavenger Hunt, King Of The Hill, Bowling, and Ring of Fire. The PlayStation Portable version uses the same physics engine and vehicles as the PlayStation 2 game, but has completely different race tracks, some exclusive vehicles, mini-games, and soundtrack. It supports ad hoc (local area network) and Infrastructure (web) multiplayer modes, and adds snowmobiles and rally cars as exclusive vehicle classes.
