The YoRHa scanner android and one of the game's three protagonists.
YoRHa No.9 Type S, called 9S and informally Nines, is a male scanner reconnaissance android in Nier: Automata, known for his outgoing personality and curiosity about the world and the machine lifeforms. He shows more emotion than other YoRHa units and fights by combining light attacks with hacking into enemies.

Lore & Background
Sent down with 2B to investigate machine behaviour and help the Resistance, 9S discovers a glitch in YoRHa's servers and learns that humanity died out long before the alien invasion. After the logic virus attack he sees A2 kill the infected 2B and swears revenge; insane and infected himself, he finally challenges A2. He is voiced by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese and Kyle McCarley in English.
