Shao Kahn's realm of constant strife.
Outworld is one of the main realms of the Mortal Kombat universe, described in the Mortal Kombat: Deception manual as a realm of constant strife that Emperor Shao Kahn claims as his own. Its rulers repeatedly try to take Earthrealm through the Mortal Kombat tournament or by invasion.
Lore & Background
In the first game Outworld has won nine tournaments in a row and needs a tenth to conquer Earthrealm. In Mortal Kombat II Shao Kahn holds a tournament in Outworld itself, and in Mortal Kombat 3 he merges Earthrealm with his empire, as he had done with Edenia. The Dragon King Onaga was Outworld's emperor before Shao Kahn poisoned him. Later rulers include Kotal Kahn in Mortal Kombat X and Kitana in Mortal Kombat 11; in Mortal Kombat 1 it is ruled by Empress Sindel and then her daughter Mileena. Its peoples include the Centaurians and the Tarkatans.
