Lore & Background
Millennia before the first game, Shinnok, one of the Elder Gods who rule the six realms, tried to conquer them all. Raiden fought and defeated him in a war lasting centuries and sent him to the Netherrealm. Now free, Shinnok first conquers the realm of Edenia with the help of the traitor Tanya while he prepares to attack the Elder Gods. To stop him, Raiden calls on the Earthrealm warriors who had saved the realms from Shao Kahn. Among the new fighters are Fujin, Raiden's ally and the wind god, and Jarek, the last member of the Black Dragon after Kano's supposed death.
