Armageddon
The war that ends the original storyline.
Armageddon is the climax of the original Mortal Kombat storyline, told in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (2006), which features almost every character from the earlier games. Delia, a sorceress, and Argus, Edenia's protector god, foresaw a catastrophe brought about by the Mortal Kombat fighters and put their sons Taven and Daegon into suspended animation to prevent it.
Lore & Background
Daegon woke too early and became unbalanced, killing his parents and founding the Red Dragon clan, while Taven sets out to claim the power of the fire elemental Blaze. Blaze, created to watch over the realms' warriors, finds they have become too powerful and gathers them for a final battle on the Pyramid of Argus. Taven beats Blaze, but this only makes the other warriors stronger. The 2011 reboot shows Shao Kahn winning instead and killing Raiden, whose last act is to send a message to his younger self to change the timeline.
