Sazed
The Keeper who finds his faith and becomes the true Hero of Ages.
Sazed is a Terrisman from the Terris region. He is a Keeper, and specializes in religion. He is severely depressed by Tindwyl's death during the Battle of Luthadel in the previous books. He continues to wear his metalminds even when not actively using them, and is trying to find the true religion that can answer Tindwyl's fate after death. Throughout the novel, he struggles with a crisis of faith while attempting to establish diplomatic relations with the people of Urteau. Ultimately, he finds his faith in the ancient Terris religion and the Hero of Ages, and it is revealed that he is the actual Hero of Ages, not Vin. He uses the knowledge in his Feruchemical metalminds, along with the combined power of Preservation and Ruin, claimed after Vin and Elend's deaths, to reshape the world into a new paradise.

Lore & Background
Sazed's path is defined by his role as a Keeper, a Terrisman who stores knowledge in Feruchemical metalminds. After the death of his beloved Tindwyl, he suffers from severe depression but continues to wear his metalminds, losing his faith in the religions he once studied. He works with Breeze and Spook to help Spook take control of Urteau, while continuing to search for a religion that makes sense to him. The prophecy that 'The Hero will bear the future of the world on his arms' refers to Sazed's Feruchemical metalminds generally.
After Vin and Elend's deaths, Sazed takes up the shards of Preservation and Ruin, using the combined knowledge in his metalminds to reshape the world into a new paradise of blue skies and green foliage. He leaves a thick tome explaining his role as the Hero of Ages, the history of Ruin and Preservation's conflict, and extensive knowledge about the Three Metallic Arts.
Reader's Guide
Sazed begins as a depressed Keeper in the Northern Dominance, struggling with the loss of Tindwyl. He no longer wears his metalminds and searches for a true religion. He works with Breeze and Spook in Urteau to help Elend take over the city. His defining moment comes when he rediscovers his faith in the ancient Terris religion and realizes he is the Hero of Ages. He claims the power of Preservation and Ruin from the fallen bodies of Vin and Ruin at the Pits of Hathsin, using his copperminds to reshape the world into a paradise. He leaves a tome explaining his role and the history of the Three Metallic Arts, and a note for Spook revealing that he made him a Mistborn and healed his body.
